2010 John N. Vlachos Award Recipient Honored
Lori Rumsey, long-time secretary to Judge William Welty, St. Joseph county District Judge, is this year's recipient of the John N. Vlachos award.
The Vlachos Award was created by the Vlachos family in memory of John N. Vlachos, a Kalamazoo attorney with a career long commitment to community service and public interest law. The award is given annually in partnership with Legal Aid of Western Michigan to a person who has made a special contribution to the civil justice community. The award was presented in a reception at the Kalamazoo County Club on October 21, at which the friends, family, local Bar and Legal Aid staff celebrated with Ms. Rumsey.

In addition to her long career in many areas of the legal system, Ms. Rumsey has created materials for distribution by the St. Joseph county courts to assist unrepresented parties in divorces navigate the legal process. Ms. Rumsey was also the recipient of the St. Joseph County Bar Association's Liberty Bell award earlier this year.
