Legal Aid of Western Michigan Attorney Receives Michigan’s Top Legal Award

Daniel Bonner, managing attorney in our Muskegon office, was presented with the Michael Franck Award this past week at the annual State Bar of Michigan convention, which was held in Dearborn, Michigan. The Michael Franck Award is given to an attorney who makes an “outstanding contribution to the improvement of the legal profession.” This phrase cannot summarize Bonner’s work enough within our community. He has been an attorney with Legal Aid, serving the less fortunate for the past 26 years with passion, civility, and dedication to ensuring justice for all his clients.
“I was deeply honored and touched when I learned I was the recipient of this award,” Bonner says. “But, what is especially gratifying is that the State Bar chose a Legal Aid attorney for this year’s award, which really honors the work that Legal Aid attorneys do in our program and across the state.”
Bonner has been involved in the community in other aspects, by serving on various boards of other nonprofit organizations. Mr. Bonner is also a past president of the Muskegon County Bar Association. His wife, Dolores Trese, is also managing attorney of the Holland office of Legal Aid of Western Michigan.
