Low income persons in Berrien County and Seniors in Berrien, Cass or VanBuren Counties should call the toll-free intake number 1-888-783-8190 if they do not have an open case with an attorney in this office.
The phone lines are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Some matters will be handled by attorneys over the telephone.
In more complex matters--such as those where the
attorneys believe that more extensive representation may be necessary
and the case is one that Legal Aid of Western Michigan would handle, the case will be assigned
to an attorney for an in-person meeting.
If you are a respondent parent/custodian of a child who is involved in Child Protective Proceedings in the Berrien County Juvenile Court, you should contact the office in St. Joseph directly as soon as you become aware that your children have been removed or that a preliminary hearing has been scheduled.
