LEGAL AID OF WESTERN MICHIGAN LAUNCHES ONLINE INTAKE!
Low income persons and Seniors Seeking Legal Services from Legal Aid have improved access. A new Online Intake which people can use from their computer or smart phone 24/7!
Legal Aid has implemented a new way for potential clients to connect to legal services. From links on the Legal Aid website, a potential client can complete an online interview to find out if they are likely to meet eligibility requirements for Legal Aid and whether their case is one that Legal Aid might handle! .
According to Deputy Director, Mary Ellen Drolet, "this does not replace the current telephone and hotline access but offers our clients another way through the door. Over the years, both our clients and technology have changed--more of our clients are employed and cannot call during business hours and many low income people have cell phones with limited minutes and cannot wait on the phone. This offers another option."
According to Drolet, it is also designed to let those who do not qualify find that out very quickly and provide them with other websites, phone numbers or information about where they might find help.
The guided interview is interactive and takes most people less than 15 minutes to complete. For those using smart phones, it is mobile friendly.
